REKindness Advice: For trick or treaters this year, consider skipping the sweets and think glow sticks and jewelry, mini-flashlights, or temporary tattoos. The more illuminated our little ones are, the safer they are, too!

Haunted Houses Anyone?

Some haunted houses—including Benicia’s Haunted Depot will tone down the fright factor for little ones by request, and turn it up for everyone else. More info: beniciamainstreet.org,

Berkeley’s House of Screams, meanwhile, includes a separate, not-so-scary area for younger children. cityofberkeley.info.

For more elaborate horror shows, leave the kids at home and head to the truly terrifying Pirates of Emerson theme park at the Alameda County Fairgrounds-  piratesofemerson.com, The Cursi House of Screams in Concord,cursihouseofscreams.com or Fear Overload Scream Park in San Leandro., fearoverload.com.

 

Vampires and Vino

Two of the East Bay’s best Halloween parties take place in Alameda: the legendary Monster’s Bash at the USS Hornet Sea, Air, and Space Museum, and the Rock Wall Wine Company’s Hallowine soiree. But pick your potion: Both events are set for October 27.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Children can explore the gourds and pick out future jack-o-lanterns at the East Bay’s many pumpkin patches.

G&M Farms in Livermore, puts on a Instagram-worthy display complete with a corn maze.

Speer Family Farms throws a pumpkin extravaganza at Alameda Point, complete with bounce houses, pumpkin launchers, and a petting zoo.

The Clayton Valley Pumpkin Farm is offering hands-on fun.

Dress in your Halloween best for a costume cookie decorating party. At this family friendly event, guests with a “Cookie Decorator” ticket will be provided with a giant pumpkin shaped sugar cookie and cookie decorating kit. While decorating, all attendees will be served delicious Halloween inspired treats and drinks. Tickets are PRESALE ONLY, tickets will not be available at the door.

The Not-Too-Spooky Halloween

If you are looking for a Halloween party specifically for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, look no further than the Habitot Children’s Museum and it’s Not-Too-Spooky Halloween party at 2065 Kittredge St, Berkeley.

Starting at 9:30 am and ending at 4:30 pm Sunday the 28th, this event transforms the museum in a Halloween playground where your little one can paint miniature pumpkins, fly paper ghosts in their wind tunnel, and try some witch’s brew in the apothecary. Admission is 12 dollars for children and adults.

Head to the Oakland Zoo for Boo at the Zoo, starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm.

Music & Monsters At A Nightmare on 14th Street

If you want to stand on dry land, and still be scared stiff, check out the Music & Monsters At a Nightmare on 14th Street on Saturday starting at 9 pm and ending at 2 am. Tickets are $7.50 now at https://www.goldstar.com/events/oakland-ca/a-nightmare-on-14th-street-tickets

This 20,000 square foot building has 3 scary rooms for you to enjoy music and partying to some of the top DJs. Make sure to wear your best costume at there is a contest awarding up to $2,500 in cash and prizes!

The normal price of admission allows you to ride the spooky zoo train, try out treats and if your kid wears a costume, they get a free ride ticket! Ghouls and goblins of all ages are invited!

 

Halloween on Solano -SHHH

A neighborhood tradition for residents who live near Solano Avenue, Halloween on Solano is a little secret Berkeley Hills Realty is sharing with you!

Being held on Wednesday, October 31st there will be “Secret” Trick or Treating at most stores and offices on Solano Avenue between 3 and 5 pm with a costume contest at 5 pm at the Church on the Corner. Please deposit candy wrappers in the available trash containers to keep our streets and neighborhood clean. Thank you!

Annual Haunted Halloween Party at Wag Hotel on the 27th

Located at the famous Jack London Square, this furry friendly party has something for everyone as the event includes drinks and music for the adults and lots of fun for kids and animals alike. This includes costume contests, trick or treating, and photos with the infamous Cruella de Vil. This event runs from 12 to 2 pm so make sure to not be late.

 

Boo! Bark, Brews + Bites

The Boo! Bark, Brews + Bites festival on the 27th at Jack London Square. This animal and family friendly events are a blast and you, your family, and your furry friend, will definitely have a great time.

There are loads of dog friendly activities, including paw painting, for them to enjoy and even a dog psychic in case you want to know more about what the future has in store for fido.
