Go Medieval For A Day

Looking for fun, fellowship, exercise, and the opportunity to hit someone with a foam sword? Join Aureus Saltus for a day of medieval themed magic and hand to hand combat! There is no fee to play, the rulebook is free to download, and extra equipment is on hand to loan anyone who wants to participate.

Oakland Creek to Bay Day

Oakland Creek to Bay Day is part of California and International Coastal Cleanup Day, the largest volunteer day in California and the world. On this day, thousands of volunteers remove litter from waterways and shorelines across California, the nation, and in about 100 participating countries.
Cerrito Creek Cleanup on Coastal Cleanup Day
When: Saturday September 17th 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Where: Creekside Park, El Cerrito
On Coastal Cleanup Day, join El Cerrito Green Teams and Friends of Five Creeks removing trash and invasive species along Cerrito Creek. Meet at El Cerrito’s Creekside Park, south end of Santa Clara Ave. (3499 Santa Clara on Internet maps). All ages welcome; there’s a play structure for very young children. Walkers 50+: Discover Albany Hill

Explore amazing Albany Hill with Margot Cunningham, head of Friends of Albany Hill. On this walk, you will ford the creek on stepping stones and gain 300+ ft. elevation, some on harrow trails with nearby poison oak.

Tour the Sunset Magazine Bay Area Idea House
When: Saturday September 24 and Sunday Sept. 25 10 am- 5 pm
Nestled in the premier hilltop neighborhood of Claremont Hills, bordering Oakland and Berkeley, the 2016 Sunset Idea House includes eye-popping views of the San Francisco Bay Area and a contemporary, artisan-designed Craftsman home. Discover casual, beautiful, and innovative design ideas as you tour the house, which is filled with the creativity and diversity of the East Bay Area.

Tour Architect Julia Morgan’s Berkeley City Club
When: Sunday, September 25. Drop-in tours of 45-minute duration are offered between 1 pm and 3:30 pm.
The club docents will introduce you to Miss Morgan, who was the first woman architect certified by the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and will lead you through the vaulted halls and arcaded courtyards of this medieval fantasy that was built in 1930 as a women’s community clubhouse.
Where: 2315 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, between Dana and Ellsworth.
