Berkeley Hills Realty has an amazing team of Realtors who work together to help all of our clients. We are casting the spotlight on Mykah Larkins this month as she is celebrating her 15th year as a Realtor.

One thing you should know about Mykah, is her love for animals. As the mother of two teenagers, she says she loves her family very much, but her pets rule the roost! One of Mykah’s favorite things to do is take her dog out for a walk and greet the neighbors and enjoy her East Bay neighborhood.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Mykah moved to the Bay Area in 1986 just in time to finish high school at Berkeley High.  Mykah’s first job out of high school was working as support staff for Mason-McDuffie Real Estate in EL Cerrito when her Aunt Mary was an agent there.  She supported herself during college partly by being a loan processor and creating marketing materials for the lender.  Mykah graduated from San Francisco State with a Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts degree, which she has used in her real estate career, which began in 2003, to creatively market her listings.

As a resident of the East Bay, Mykah really enjoys the diversity and desire for community of the region. She believes that people in the area understand the value of coming together and do so at community events such as Music in the Park. “I really enjoy people and so the friendliness of this community makes me especially appreciate what we have here in the East Bay,” Mykah shares.

When asked which “niche” she enjoys working in, she said, “I know folks think it is better to be in a niche here as the people with more money like to think they are special, but I believe that the client is the client, not the price point of the sale.”

This statement showcases Mykah’s basic philosophy that helping people navigate the daunting real estate process takes honesty, regardless if it is hard to hear.  She is proud that she shows compassion for any difficult feelings that may arise from the real estate process, as she knows that any transition brings up strong emotions, from first time home buyers to children selling their parents estate.

“With 15 years experience, I understand how scary and exciting it is for buyers and how scary and daunting it is for sellers to make this major life decision”.

Mykah’s clients, friends and family value her for her honesty, kindness, commitment and patience, attributes she commonly uses in helping her clients reach their goals for a new lifestyle.

When not working, you may find Mykah doing Zumba or dancing at one of a variety of venues or events in the area and wine tasting at a local tasting room. Mykah’s motto? Live in the moment as much as you can and when you feel down, do something for someone else.
