East Bay July Events Calendar

What says summer in the East Bay more than the fireworks and Independence Day celebrations near the bay! Read on for some fun ways to celebrate the birth of our nation AND a good old fashioned county fair and opportunities for family fun. The fair is in town! Time for livestock shows, ferris wheels, live music, carnival games and the brave souls testing the utmost limits of what foodstuffs can be breaded and deep-fried in the County! So much to do and see!

What: “Not This Time”- An art  benefit for Planned Parenthood

When: Thursday, Jun 29, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Where: Nayborly: 2518 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley

Admission: Free

 

“Not This Time” is a one-time pop-up art exhibition to benefit Planned Parenthood. Over two dozen artists from around the world have donated art to this event. Food and adult beverages will be served during the event. All art and showcased goods will be available for sale!  All monies collected from art sales and donations will go directly to Planned Parenthood Mar Monte – providing funding for local Planned Parenthood clinical services in the Bay Area.  For an art sneak peak click here;

There is a full lineup of music plus a family festival with live entertainment, a Sosakete Round Dance, circus, hula hooping, DJs, arts and craft vendors and booths by local business and service groups. Last year there were carnival games, jump houses and rides.

 

What: Waterfront Family Festival, Concert & Fireworks / 9th Annual Oakland Symphony Independence Eve Celebration

 

When: Monday, July 3rd from 5:30pm-9:30pm

Enjoy an evening of food, children’s games, live blues music, and a great view of the Richmond Waterfront fireworks. There will be food vendors, live blues, and a Kids Fun Zone (for a fee) starting at 5:30 pm leading up to the spectacular 20 minute fireworks display at 9:15 pm.

 

What: Fourth of July Fireworks and Celebration in Berkeley

When: Tuesday, July 4th from noon-10 pm.

Where: Berkeley Marina

 

Enjoy free family fun in an alcohol-free environment culminating with fantastic fireworks.

Adventure Playground, where kids ride a zipline or use hammers, nails, saws, and paint with parental supervision is free and open until 8PM. Located right near a protected beach, it is great for a splash in the sun or building sand castles.

Berkeley Canoe Racing Club is offering free Dragon Boat rides 12-5PM

 

Live entertainment on several stages will delight kids and adults. Dance near the main stage to the Latin sounds of Bautista; New Orleans’ jazz with St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band; the funky soul of The Funkanauts; groove on Lee Waterman & Jazz Caliente; and rock out with the US Air Force Band of the Golden West – Mobility. In the evening, A Son of Liberty recites the Declaration of Independence to remind us of why we are celebrating on this very important day.

 

Food stalls and gourmet food trucks will be on hand and you will be delighted by jugglers, one-man bands, capoeira, clowns, live pony rides, a petting zoo, carnival rides, an inflatable bounce area, mini-train rides, a giant wavy slide, and walk-on-water bubble balls.

 

Fireworks!

The day culminates in the grand fireworks over the water near the end of the Berkeley Pier at 9:35PM presented by the City of Berkeley. Viewing is best along Frontage Drive south of the Pier or from HS Lordship’s parking lot.

 

What: Independence Day Celebration in Oakland

When: Tuesday July 4th from Noon-6 pm

Where: The Oakland waterfront at Jack London Square

Cost: Free

Celebrate Independence Day with family fun at the waterfront with interactive activities and entertainment for both parents and children. The July 4th Backyard BBQ will also feature tasty treats, music and much more,

Please note, there are no fireworks in 2017.

When: Saturday July 15th from 11 am- 5 pm
